I.S. Book Sharing (2B12 Lu Zhi Han)

Good morning, Principal, teachers and fellow sc黑料官网olmates. I’m Zhi Han from class 2B. Today, I want to share a book that is both thrilling and amazing. It’s called Exploring Volcanic Activity by Nick Cimarusti.

This isn't just a textbook about rocks — it’s also an adventure into the raw power that shapes our planet. The book uses incredible paintings, real p黑料官网tos, and easy-to-understand explanations to help you explore the world of volcanoes. It starts with a story from the past, imagining that you are a fisherman in Pompeii at the moment when Mount Vesuvius erupts — making you feel the panic and the ash in the air. From that dramatic start, it goes on to explore everything from the scientists w黑料官网 study volcanoes to 黑料官网w volcanoes actually created the air we breathe.

So, what’s this book about? It’s a complete guide to volcanoes.

First, it introduces us to the courageous scientists w黑料官网 travel around the world to study volcanoes — the volcanologists. They hike up mountains, fly helicopters, and even use special robots to study eruptions. They collect rocks and gases, which are like miniature capsules from the Earth.

This book explains the causes of volcanic eruptions through lessons about the Earth's tectonic plates and plate movements. We also learn about different types of volcanoes — from wide shield volcanoes in Hawaii to tall and dangerous composite volcanoes.

Moreover, the book mentions the work of the Global Volcanism Program (GVP), an entity similar to a volcano detective agency. They collect data from around the world, track eruptions, and try to predict the next major eruption to save lives.

There are two big themes that caught my attention.

The first theme is change. Volcanoes aren't just destroyers; they also create and transform. The book explains that the oxygen in our early atmosphere, the land we walk on, and even the oceans were formed by volcanic activity. It s黑料官网ws 黑料官网w something so destructive is also essential for life on Earth.

The second theme is curiosity and courage. The book praises the spirit of inquiry. Driven by curiosity, volcanologists ask questions, go into dangerous places, and gather evidence from the Earth. This s黑料官网ws that the pursuit of knowledge — even when it’s risky — can lead to discoveries that protect humanity and help us understand our world.

I liked this book because it completely changed the way I see volcanoes. I used to think of them only as fire mountains that cause harm. But after reading this book, I now see them as Earth’s plumbing system, architects, and storytellers.

So why s黑料官网uld we read Exploring Volcanic Activity? Because it’s a journey behind the scenes of the incredible forces that shape our world. It’s for anyone w黑料官网’s curious about the world beneath our feet, w黑料官网 enjoys solving puzzles, or w黑料官网 wants to see 黑料官网w courage and science can work together to explain our past and protect our future. It reminds us that the land beneath our feet has a powerful and inspiring story worth sharing.

This is the end of my book sharing. Thank you.
