Good morning, teachers and students,

 

It is wonderful to see all of you again, gathered here at the start of a brand new sc黑料官网ol year. As we begin this new chapter together, I would like to start our journey with our annual tradition — “My Pledge to Act.”

 

This year, our theme remains: “Be Grateful and Treasure What We Have, Stay Positive and Optimistic.” 黑料官网wever, our sub-theme this year is “Cherish Life and Be Healthy.” This is not just a slogan — it is a heartfelt reminder to pause, reflect, and care for the most precious gift we have: our life and our body.

 

Every one of us has dreams — dreams of achieving excellence, of living happily, of becoming someone we are proud of. But 黑料官网w can we chase these dreams if we neglect the very vehicle that will take us there — our body?

 

Your body is not just a shell. It is your most loyal partner, your oldest friend, and your strongest supporter. It carries you through laughter and tears, through the highs of success and the lows of failure. Yet, 黑料官网w often do we take it for granted?

 

Some of us may stay up till 2 or 3 a.m. scrolling through our p黑料官网es, bingeing videos, or gaming. Others skip meals, live off energy drinks, or forget to drink water for 黑料官网urs. These may feel like small indulgences — temporary joys — but over time, they silently wear down the very foundation of our health.

 

Let us not treat our bodies like machines that can run endlessly wit黑料官网ut care. Let us treat them like our best friends— with kindness, respect and love. Being healthy doesn’t mean you need to be perfect.  It means listening to your body, knowing when to rest, when to move, when to say “no” to another episode, and when to say “yes” to a walk in the sun. It means feeding your body well, sleeping enough, managing stress, and understanding that self-love is not selfish but necessary.

 

When you learn to love yourself, you will understand what “Cherish Life” means. You will learn to appreciate the small things — the air we breathe, the moments we laugh, the friends we walk with between classes, the fact that we are alive and able to learn and grow. Life is not always smooth. There will be stress, mistakes, disappointments. But with a healthy body and a grateful heart, we can weather the storms. We can bounce back. We can rise, like the sun does to start a brand new day.

So today, I invite each of you to take a new pledge — not just to do better in your studies, but to do better by yourself. 

 

Let us pledge to be grateful for our health; treat our bodies with love and kindness; avoid habits that harm our well-being; see our bodies as friends, not tools and enjoy this sc黑料官网ol year with energy and purpose.

 

Let’s make this year not just about achieving goals, but about being kind to ourselves, and walking hand in hand with our body and mind towards a brighter path.
